Which one is clearly the best in terms of great management, good selection of 'patrons', and the scene of various Westerner/Korean or Westerner/Westerner friendly 'interaction'.
I'm living in Changwon, so my vote is definitely "O'Brien's" here in town. Great owner, wonderful 'characters', and the food looks great too.
I used to spend some quality time in "Gecko's", but "O'Brien's" beats it. |

Mike and Dave's Speakeasy in Gwangju, Jeollanamdo, have a really good, sociable vibe, a great house band, and make a great - and effective! - effort to get good bands and DJs in from around the country.
They have a good selection of beers, good pub food, and a great locale in central down-town, on a second floor;
but the thing that's different that I like best about the place is that as a non-smoker, there's a whole wall-full of large windows that open up wide, so the place is never too damn smokey! |

Sounds painful? Yes. It is. Read a freakin' book and learn how to use the language you are paid to teach. |

Never been to O'brians. But I am a gecko's girl. I love going in the early afternoon, sitting at the bar, drinking a pint, with the option of pool, darts, great food and interesting characters to chat up.
Best bar in Korea? Doubt it. But I like it. |

Oops - I think you posted on the wrong thread. The above clearly belongs here.
Gecko's has location going for it - but I'll take the RMT over either of the poll choices. |

I'd rather eat my own face than drink at either RMT or Geckos. I'm casting my vote for Three Alleys. |

The Dublin in Bundang gets my vote. Free darts, free pool, friendly staff, unpretentious atmosphere, and complete lack of any hassle. Not always the most raging place, but worth avoiding the trip into Seoul. |

So you've already narrowed it down to those 2, huh? Not much of a poll. |

I've been to Gecko's. It seemed more like a family restaurant than a bar. Decent enough burger but I'd never go there to drink. |

Haa ha; methinks thou overreactith a bit too mucheth.
Besides - I'm not an English teacher.
No, I'm a bored bar owner who spends too much time online haunting this site, practising my troll-baiting skills while waiting for Korean businessmen to come ogle the waitresses and suck on their little phallic-symbols in my smokeey, badly ventilated bar.
You should come visit me sometime, and I'll give you a lesson in my great, wonderful, peak-of-civilization, height-of-Arayan development language, and we can share a couple of packs of menthols. Come look for me in Moon bar in Ilsan, Dae-wha-dong, near Dae-Jin high school. You can't miss it. It has a reversed swastika on the corner everyone has to salute when they use the door. |

I've never been to O'Brien's but any bar with two apostrophes in the name sounds like my kind of place. |
