During the day, I can't go to Itaewon without eating delicious food at any number of places.

At night, I can't go to Itaewon without feeling like I'm in some sort of hellish colonial nightmare.

Seeing at least 12 people I know.

Having a good time.

Hitting up the new kebab guy next to Burger King.

Buying Western food goods at the Red Door.

Seeing the white-gloved, silver-haired homeless guy yell at someone.

Getting propped for "short time" by a middle-aged working girl.

I think of it as a foreigner security blanket, but that's an even better description of a lot of the attitudes I see coming out of the "Yay! Itaewon!" crowd.

It's just another place to go in a city full of them.
