There seems to be some interest in bicycles. I guess it's the time of the year. Here's a decent guide to help you find the bike best suited to your riding style.

My advice is if you have the cash, get something decent here. Otherwise wait till you get back home to buy something nice (and then bring it with you when you return).
Ebay has some fantastic deals on very decent bikes, with very nice components. |

I had a bike shipped from Canada to here and it cost over 200$. Its even more expensive if you dont break it into two seperate boxes.
Also, dont forget that if your bike's value is declared at over 100$, the K govt will ream you for 20%... so If you buy a 1000$ bike, you have to pay Uncle Kim 200$ on top of it... AND THEY MIGHT INCLUDE THE SHIPPING COSTS IN THE SUM OF THE DECLARED VALUE (this happened to me when I bought some new wheels on ebay and had em shipped here.)
To anyone who is reading: The best thing is to bring your bike with you on the plane from your home to Korea. |

True. Happened to me too (for a non-bike-related purchase). The policy of charging import duty on the shipping is spelled out right there in the Hangeul fine print on the customs form.
Anyways, I bought a Cannondale Hybrid off of English Spectrum dot com for only 225k two years ago, so I'm a happy camper. |
