Has anybody gone to this school. Their website seemed to disappear in the past week. It is a 2 hour a day class in Jongno. Any info on this class would help.

Worst Korean class I've ever had. Other people have said it all depends on the teacher. I ended up skipping the last week and a half because it was so boring. Barely any opportunity to speak and the teacher tended to take up most of the class time by giving us worksheets. Do a search and you'll find threads about this same topic

I go to YBM and the classes are fantastic. My previous teacher was much more interesting than my current teacher, but we get more done in our current class. Everybody I know that has taken classes at YBM liked it, or still likes it. Give it a try, it costs about 5,000won an hour.

I went there thinking that it'd be a good value, but again, it was one of the worst classes I've ever had (public school, university, and other korean classes). I would recommend going to SNU for their evening program. I think there is a new location near 선릉 station. It's 500,000원 for 60 hours, which comes out to about 8,300원 per hour, but in my opinion it's worth paying more for people who are actually educated in teaching Korean. Plus, since it's SNU you are pretty much guaranteed to have a decent instructor.

xCustomx.. Have you gone to other schools that are better?
If so, please tell me which ones and how were they better.

I went to Korean Language Educational and Cultural Institute, KLEC, and it was just as you described. Mostly homework, and writing worksheets, no speaking. So I am looking for any change. I know the University courses are best but I can't do them at this time so I am looking for a 2-3 hour morning course.

ajgeddes--- Did you take the course in Seoul, at Jongno?
Do you still go?
There website is down, so I cant find the info I want.
On monday, I'll just go to Jogno and walk around trying to find it, but if you have a better plan, please let me know.
By the way, how long have you been going there?

thanks

Sogang is the best for learning a high usable proficiency quickly. It is simply because the methods are proficiency-based rather than content-based. It also has a great online component (you can use it whether you enroll or not http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/). You will be forced to demonstrate in more active and natural ways than say Yonsei or SNU or Korea Uni. etc. That said, any are ok depending on what you want to put in. I would think location and class hours might be a consideration.

Dutcy Pink, go to Jongno 3-Ga station and walk out exit 15 and go about 100 metres down the road and it's on your left. Walk in and tell them you want to study Korean. It starts at the start of every month so you will have to wait a week, but you can take the test and then you will be placed. My only warning is that when you walk up to the counter, the girls that work there might be mentally retarded (not really) and they are difficult to deal with.
