Hello to anyone who can help me. I need to get National Health Insurance and as a teacher I am entitled to it. However, my hagwon is using private insurance and though they promise they will sign me up for national they are seriously dragging their feet on enrolling me ofr national as well. It's not that they are trying to avaoid paying for it, It's just that it is an easy thing for them to put on the back burner.
I wanted to know if there is an easy way to do the paperwork myself so I can bring it in and have my director sign on the dotted line and get my insurance card ASAP. Please let me know if anyone has had a similar issue and what solutions may be out there.
Thanks all. |

It is no longer a matter of entitlement on your part, it is one of legal obligation on theirs. They are required BY LAW to cover you under the national plan, regardless of the size of the school. The reason why they are "dragging" their feet is because they probably haven't registered you properly with the ministry of education, the national pension bureau, and the tax office. Registering you for the national health plan would alert those offices that they were evading paying those taxes and would result in them having to start pay into them and possibly having to pay fines for not paying them previously. |

He is legally REQUIRED to enroll you in the NHIC medical plan as soon as you have your ARC.
There is NO "private insurance" coverage for basic medical.
It would be my guess that he has not enrolled you in the national pension plan either (as required by law).
It would also be my guess that you are paying more than 1.7% of your salary in taxes (over taxing you and pocking some or all of it).
Your boss is a liar and a thief. |

Well this is distressing to say the least. So if you were me who would you go to? Should I contact the embassy for advice. I MUST have national health insurance as I have a chronic condition that requires continued outpatient treatment. As someone mentioned, basic medical ie. outpatient procedures and medication that is not emergency. PS - what is the tax rate because while I'm at it I would like to check that on my next paycheck. |
