However Guri...Corporal has a very valid point as the endless line of threads bashing Korean men or Koreans in general will attest to. I suppose bashing Koreans is not xenophobia at all...nawww its just healthy venting...
It is true most posters here do not physically attack anyone in Korea. But, the racism and double standard is alive an well and I think this is what Corporal was alluding to. |
Homer, there is a difference between being racist and assaulting someone. I wouldn't want either, but being assaulted is the worst.
As far as xenophobia, to some extent Korean xenophobia does appear to fuel Western prejudice against Koreans. Of course, it is wrong. I don't like hearing it. I do criticize certain things about Korea, but I also do the same for North America and try to remember to praise South Koreans for their good things. As far as assaulting someone over race, it happens in the U.S. quite often. The difference is in Korea sometimes the foreigner is blamed for it. There would be an outcry over a racial crime in North America and with people clearly asking for prosecution etc.... Korea is getting there in some areas when it comes to treating foreigners. Things have improved from what I understand over the years. The xenophobia in Korea is more blatant, but I don't think some posters realize that the titles of the threads they use in many cases sound bigoted. |

I know serious xenophobia is out there.
Out where? There's plenty of it here on Dave's. |

There's been quite a number of Dave's posters who have written posts about going off on rude Koreans in public. I do agree that "most" however seem to prefer cyberspace. |

The best strategy would be to wait until Halloween.
A crew of as many people as possible needs to be put together. Everyone's base costume needs to be a Scottish outfit that includes a kilt. Over the Scottish costume, everyone needs to wear ghost sheets (like on Charlie Brown).
Everyone could file into TurdBurger and the kilt would make it easy to take a convenient dump on the floor, and the ghost sheets would not only protect each person's identity, it would hide the dump-taking from the diners and buy some time.
Then, everyone could leave and make a getaway and wipe their rear ends on the ghost sheets and make a getaway in the Scottish costumes and then go out for a night on the town in Itaewon having fun with all of the expat women asking if there's anything under the kilt. |
