The Show: 1 vs 100

The Question: How many six packs does it take to put 99 bottles of beer on the wall?

A. More than 15
B. Exactly 15
C. Less than 15

20 people out of 100 got it wrong. (One cute girl who got it wrong explained, "I'm a wine drinker, I don't drink beer, he he he")

Brilliant stuff.

24 bottles of beer in a case, 24 hours in a day...coincidence? -- I don't think so...

As for the question--It's Friday afternoon in Central America and my brain is disengaged for the weekend...

My brother asked me today to instantly answer this question: what is 13 divided by 97? I said, "Uh.. about 0.15." He snobbishly laughed, pointing out that it's closer to 0.135. The shame! Embarassed

Anyway, the answer to that question is 6.

Don't tell your brother, but you got the answer wrong. It's how many 6 packs, not how man cases of 24 bottles. It's easy, actually. Just divide 99 by 3 and then divide the answer by 2. (99/3)=33. (33/2)= 16.5 six packs.

Or you could just divide 99 by 6....

The more important question is: "Where are you downloading new episodes of 1 vs. 100?"

I can only find the first episode.

The way i worked it out was 6*10=60+6*5=90+6=96 which means more than 15

your way seems much easier Embarassed

the way the question is worded, just do 15 x 6 pack. Answer is less than 99. Therefore, answer is "more than 15."
No need to figure it out exactly, just go with what they give you.

Doesn't it depend on how many you drink?

That would have involved pulling out a pen and paper. My method is simpler and faster.

PS. You could have also done: (60/6)+(39/6) (a variation of the Euclidean Division Method that I sometimes use when dividing small numbers in my head).

Yeah, you're right. That's what I do on IQ tests (another hint: start calculating from the left if you notice that the first few digits in the multiple choice answers are different while the last ones are similar. It will save you precious seconds.).

Obviously dogshed does not understand elementary math. You should explain to him that math does not change, irregardlessably of (in)sobriety. Perhaps, post an equation?
