Quote:
LONDON - The best tourists in the world are the Japanese, followed by Americans and the Swiss, a survey based on views from hoteliers across Europe said on Wednesday.

Japanese tourists stood out for being polite and tidy, securing 35 percent more votes than the Americans who came second.

Swiss tourists were commended for being quiet and considerate, unlike the Britons who were judged to be the fifth worst tourists because of rude behavior, noise and a miserly attitude to tipping.

But despite their faults, hoteliers do look favorably upon British spending habits voting them the third biggest holiday spenders after Americans and Russians.

Based on responses from 15,000 European hoteliers, the survey carried out on behalf of travel Web site Expedia showed that the worst tourist nation was France, followed by India, China and Russia.

Britain was second in the worst-dressed tourist table which was headed by the Americans, and fifth in the least-generous table which was headed by the Germans.

I worked in a casino in Queenstown NZ and i would have to say older americans in the tour groups are the worse, then young australians (if i ever hear "aussie aussie aussie, owie owie owie" again i don't know what i will do. I did not like the older chinese or koreans, the younger ones were cool.

But i have to agree the Japanese of all ages were very nice. They never seemed to expect things, where as the americans expected every thing for free. having to explain hundreds of times no the drinks are not free, no i can't take that 50cent tip. don't touch the cards, sir don't touch the cards, if you touch the cards again i will break your bloody fingers.

sorry bad memories came flooding back

According to one of my Korean friends, Jaoanese tourists are not the best tourists. She has spent the past 5 years working for a tour company in Seoul, that takes Japanese tourists around Seoul. She told me many of them are rude and show up late for scheduled tours around the city. She said even the young ones in their 20s and 30s are rude.

My ex bf was bumped into accidentally in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. THe Japanese guy kept bowing over and over again until we left the building saying he's sorry. My ex told him it's ok, it was an accident and he's not mad. But he kept bowing and kept saying sorry.
