Recently, I bought nice sashimi and sushi at E-Mart. They actually sliced it to order. Even my wife, who lived in Japan for 5 years, said it was nice.
Have you ever gone to the big fish market at Noriyangin (Subway Line 1)? You can buy live fish, fresh fish (never frozen) or fresh frozen fish. I read recently that frozen fish is the safest for sushi because the freezing process kills some kind of bacteria that can be dangerous.
I, personally, am not too worried about that, except for eating fresh raw crab. That seems like a real threat. Not to mention, it's such a pain in the ass to eat. |

The fish in Noryanjin are pretty skanky and are not up to sushi standard. However you should try the gaebul (sea pen!s), sea cucumber and monggae. The gaebul is touted as Korean Viagra. An acquaintance mentioned that he had an excellent night on Hooker Hill after eating it. So perhaps it's true.
