The classes at the Seoul Korean Language Academy are starting on June 9th, 2007, level 1.
There are 3 people in the class now, signed up, and there are 6 more seats available for this section. One of the students is a celebrated travel writer who has travelled and written about his experiences as an ESL teacher throughout the world.
Another of the students is a Canadian polyglot who speaks 8 languages, with extensive teaching experience in different countries like Guatemala, Honduras, Turkey, the Dominican Republic and Taiwan. He is also a former elite marathon runner, and is qualified as a personal trainer, for weight loss and maintenance.
The other student is an M.Ed. in TESOL with vast experience in the States as a teacher to the Latino community.
Three of us are travelling up from Anjung eup (near Pyeongtaek city) a journey of 1.5 hours on the bus to Nambu bus station.
The school is located near the Kangnam subway station (5 mins walk) on a street going up the hill parallel to the main street. Call the school for directions. There are many excellent restaurants with low prices close to the school.

If it were higher level, I'd consider it.
That Canadian Polyglot...why the heck is he in Korea? He sounds way too good for a hagwon job.

That guy works at our Institute - fluent in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, with conversational skills also in Mandarin/Turkish, and he also understands a little Arabic and Tagalog. A study group at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, showed that the polyglot guy developed his unusual ability thanks to being 'exposed' to different languages at a young age, as his father was a journalist for the 'Irish Times' newspaper, with postings in different countries.
If you attend the class, the polyglot will reveal some of his unusual methods (not usually found in textbooks) which enabled him to master so many languages. When he was in Quito, Ecuador, he took part in a film documentary in which linguists from Latin America were unable to detect any sign of an accent when he spoke Spanish during the interview. During a visit to Portugal, he was able to double as a Brazilian native speaker!
The classes at the Seoul Korean Language Academy often have interesting foreigners who sign up, and that is a nice benefit.
It is basically the only place where Korean can be studied on Saturdays.

Course sounds like just what I am looking for ... With a great group of people ... I have sent a pm though .. It means travelling for me as well ... but I know there is no option any closer that will work for me ...

sorry to be the skeptic (and I do believe that polygots exist) but do you have any documentation for this... Has he ever taken the DELE?? What other certifications does he have for the other sevenish languages that he speaks...???
Again please don't be offended that I'm asking this but all to often I hear people saying I "speak" blah blah language.....and their definition of speak is pretty flimsy

| how much are they paying you ghost? just kiiiididng....I'd really like to talk to that Canadian polyglot. I'm really trying to up my Korean game so if you know when they're starting an intermediate class please lemme know. I've been contacted by a TV program here but I need to improve my Korean quickly. |

A mix of both grammar/hangul practice and conversation is the method at the Seoul Language Academy. This seems to work well with most students.
