Anyone been to this island? It's in my top 3-4 islands to try to visit next time down in the Philippines.

Ttompatz, I remember you mentioned you haven't been to it yet, any hearsay on Bantayan?

Here's links to info on Bantayan Island, and how to go there.

There are resorts there and package trips can be arranged from tour co.s in Cebu or from resort website.

It is not known for outstanding diving as the water is shallow.

I have been to the north of Cebu Province but I did not go there.

I have sighted that island while passing by in a boat. It is a small flat island.

I have not heard anything noteworthy about it.

That picture does not mean it is a nice place. It means the water is shallow.

There are resorts there so some people go there.

Not to be confused with Daan Bantayan, the northernmost part of Cebu Province.

I've got friends up in Bogo and they have NOT said anything special about it so it wasn't even on my radar.

The wife says it is smaller than Panglao and sort of like a less developed version of Boracay or Alona beach. She says it is notable for the beaches.

If you get that way, let me know. Maybe more like a big sister to Malapascua Island than anything else?

Thanks for the info.

That is what I gathered as well. When I was in Malapascua.. most people said that they were very similar.

If its smaller than Alona Beach and less developed.. hmm.. I really enjoyed Alona Beach.. definetely.. but was hoping for something slighly more happening/developed Alona Beach (as much as I really did enjoy it there).

Helpful information.

Thanks Cosmo for responding as well.

The other 3.. I was thinking of Sipilay (which I've now written off). Heard its VERY OVER-RATED (and more of a diver destination).

Port Barton (Palawan). I enjoyed El Nido and Puerto Princesa quite a bit.. and most people who like Palawan, also like Port Barton. So, I'd fit into that category. Plus I'm into shallow beaches for swimming and water type stuff (as opposed to diving destinations - so your Bantayan suggestions which sounded slightly negative was interpreted positively by me as well)

And Bantayan, of course, as well..

Ticao Island is an interesting place. Also the part of Southern Luzon near Ticao. There you can go on a snorkeling tour for a chance to see whale sharks.

Close to Ticao Island is Snake Island. It is a small, hollow geologic formation. You can get a ride there from Ticao. There you can swim and enter a passage to the inside that is at water level. Inside it is like a weird theater, because there are bats and lots sea snakes that go out of the water onto rocks and just lounge on the rocks.

Although small, Ticao has an interesting terrain including hills and natural undeveloped areas.

Moalboal on the west side of Cebu is nice. Have u been there?

Dumaguete and Apo Island are nice too.
