What is something you could only have found out about hagwon teaching or anything else in Korea by being in country, but that, if you could have somehow known it before you decided to go, would have made you say 'No way am I ever going to that place'.
And, do you think you would have been worse for not coming because of it?
Personally, I don't know of anything, but finding out about the appalling lack of public restroom facilities (who's always within reach of a McDonald's or Lotteria when they need one, after all?) might have given me pause. Chances are every last waeguk sunsaeng has chased down at least one backstairs cubbyhole of a restroom through small, unfamiliar streets at night only to rattle a locked door and search desperately on.
Nothing like they've got in France, eh? Just imagine those contraptions on Korean streets! But then, why have 'em if you don't need 'em, right?
