I love sushi and can eat buckets of it, but sadly i have found that sushi in Korea (even if disguised in a "Japanese" resaurant) sucks a-ss! It's all frozen, and the fish used is chewy, and shiny.
I miss yellow tail, and fatty tuna, and salmon. Does anyone know of any good sushi resturants in the Seoul or Bupyeong area? Price is of no importance, I just want some real Japanese sushi, and no more frozen slabs of silver-fish.
Sushi...sigh...I miss you. |

what's that all-you-can-eat place down from gangnam station, just past pronto (the italian eatery)?
decent-sized cuts of salmon, 15 bucks-ish.
sorry that i'm too lazy to google it; someone fill him in!

Don't you know? They make the sushi taste bad in Korea on purpose to show the superiority of Korean food VS Japanese food.
It's a conspiracy I tell ya.
Actually, the probable reason is that Koreans can't cook foreign food very well. |

There are plenty good sushi restaurants around. I don't know where you have been going, but obviously you should try something else than a sushi bus next to your apartment The places with conveyor belt are not usually that good as sushis dry up pretty soon on the belt. Instead of trying out some fast-food style sushi places, try some real restaurants, such as those really tiny ones with only few tables inside in back alleys. |

Or maybe the original assumption that it's inferior is not valid in the first place...

For 25,000 you can eat the Delasia buffet just down the road from Dangsan St. (in Lotte Mart). It's costs 20,000-25,000 (depending on time) and it offers sushi rolls, sashimi and plenty of cooked food which is quite good.
It has a beer buffet during lunch as well for +5,000. Salmon, Tuna, Squid, Fatty Tuna, that nasty white fish that Koreans love, etc. are all offered. Picking the sashimi off and leaving the rice = no questions asked.
I highly recommend this establishment. |
