I'm at the exasperated stage where you say, "$%#&, buying this shouldnt be such a pain in the ass."
If anyone can give me the contact info of an English speaking human or store were an English speaking human might work, that can hook me up with a relatively new or used, high-end, English ONLY laptop and or desktop, i'd give you many thanks.
Since i don't speak or read korean, sites like Danwa, while cheap, are of little use to me. I dont trust anything as complicated as ordering expensive computer components from the net in Korea. I'd prefer to actually speak to a human before the misunderstanding fun begins. |

Johnny Computer -two blocks outside gate 4 - Camp Walker
Johnny speaks English well and has new and used computers for sale as well as Lenovo laptops at reasonable prices. The used computers are all refurbished, usually picked up from leaving servicemen. They are all English O/S and he has lots of English software.

damn. johnny computer is very expensive, even for korea. must be that "you are faked in Daegu" tax he added on.
my odyssey for a computer in daegu continues. no wonder the suicide rate is so high in the rok. |

Just go to Danawa and order what you want. It will be delivered to Daegu and there you can have it assembled or do it yourself.
Or order a prefab... |

| If you want to spend money on a new laptop - both Mac and HP's new line offer a choice of English or Korean at initial boot. Wish i would hav known this two years ago - would have saved a lot of grief. |

| Hey, I just checked out the electronic market next to EXCO. It a 4 story building with all electronics, two floors of computers. My buddy picked up a used laptop, for 390. Many of the places don't speak English, but this one guy spoke pretty good English, I even went to him for him to fix my laptop, which he fixed in one day, and charged me only 90 dollars. He is on the third floor. Get off the escalator and walk left at a 90 degree angle, he will be at the area to the right, if you walk past it, you will hit another area against the wall. The cheapest he had was 300 for pentium 3, but he said, movies, video, music, pictures, no problem for hte pentium 3, but to get a pentium 4 with a bit more juice you paying just shy of 400. Hope this helps. |

What do you need to talk about??
Computers are all about numbers, or if not then universal words like 'DVD re-write,' etc. Find out what you want for your money and look out for the numbers.
Jeonjagwan is great and chilled out.
A new HP will have the choice to boot up in English - I heard it was the only choice for new computers. Maybe IBM or Apple as well , but they'll out of your price-range. HP are cheap, good quality and well specked.
Ok, mb you should know 'ship-man-on' is 100K. Or they'll just get the calculator out... |

Hi,
I've been in Korea for about 2 months (i live in Incheon), and I want to buy a laptop for cd/dvd use & internet access.I don't mind buying a used laptop (as long as it's got english windows), and was wondering if 'johnny computer' happened to be in itaewon (i thought i may have seen it)?If anyone has any info/recommendations they can make to me about any other sellers I'd love to hear from you.

Johnny Computer is on the street behind the Hamilton Hotel. Go up the small street by Hard Rock, then turn right at the top of the street, it is right beside the Smokey Saloon. May as well stop in for an great burger while you are there.
To the OP:
Toshiba has an option when you start up to initialize it in English. |
