Apparently, Ms. Sheehan is finally calling it quits: the vigils at the Bush ranch, the photo-ops with the ambulance-chaser, Jesse Jackson, Reverend of the Church with No Roof.

In a cemetery lies an unmarked grave of her son, Casey.

After three years, and a Dept of Defense payment of $250,000 to the "Peace Mom", Cindy Sheehan has not had the time or bothered to have a headstone placed on this young hero's grave. And, she doesn't even have to pay for one, the Dept of Defense will provide one:

Quote:
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a government headstone or marker for the grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world. For all deaths occurring before September 11, 2001 , the VA may provide a headstone or marker only for graves that are not marked with a private headstone. Flat markers in granite, marble, and bronze and upright headstones in granite and marble are available. The style chosen must be consistent with existing monuments at the place of burial. Niche markers are also available to mark columbaria used for inurnment of cremated remains.

Apparently she can find time to protest on at least 3 continents, get arrested various times, go on vacation in Hawaii, have photo ops with the Marxists in Venezuela, but can't seem to find the time to properly mark her son's grave.

Yes, the sob sister who protested the war at Bush's ranch, who lost her son in the war, is the same mother who freely gave up that son when he was 7 years-old after a divorce.

Now she is going through yet another divorce and guess what?

She is freely giving up custody of another son.

So her clarion call to action against the "war machine" rang a little hollow to me.

How about you?

Why do you want to sell Taiwan out to Beijing, Steve-o?

The woman lost her son. She lost her son for a lost cause, or no cause.

I don't care if she has absorbed all the A.N.S.W.E.R. and other rhetoric, the woman deserves a soapbox to stand on, and if you support this war, you have a duty to listen.

I am a war-time veteran and I do support her right to protest but that does NOT obligate me to listen. I think her protests are more of a lost cause than the war on terror.

Could hardly bear her, either. Especially her ill-informed, ranting political commentary on American Middle-East relations or her photo-ops with Hugo Chavez. Good riddance.

But I wish we would not slam her with such a hostile title, McGarrett. She lost her son, and she handled it badly. Now she is finally done, though. But I think her life remains in pieces, too (husband left her over this nonsense, correct?).

I am anti-war, but I despise the tactics of Ms. Sheehan. I am glad she is done with her absolute non-sense. However, I do not think it is fair to drag her divorces into this conversation. Sometimes, in divorce, it is much more wise to "give up" custody of a child than to drag them through what could be a much more traumatic experience. There's no reason to get that personal in this discussion.

Peace

Apparently she lost him (of her own choice) when he was seven.

And it was his CHOICE to enlist.

And yes, that apparent neglect of her son's grave does seem rather strange since she is using it as a prime reason for opposing the war the way she does.

But no surprise that she's giving up, the TV cameras have moved on to the next story...

Sheehan is an unmitigated narcissist. She is one of those people who is only happy being the center of attention. No matter who or what she sacrifices along the way.

Which is exactly why I have a nasty feeling that we haven't seen the last of her. She, and her big mouth, will be back. Just watch.

I agree. The woman was obnoxious, but it was her far-leftist handlers that took advantage of her son's loss. Up until now, the woman did not bear her son's loss with great dignity, but she did bear it. And now she's trying to regain her dignity. Let her do so.

Sure, VanIslander. That was what her handlers had her doing: "peace-activism..."

I love how leftists cry about Orwellianisms but then peddle them, themselves.

She reminds me of the Mother of the Columbine shooter, who's first reaction to the news of her sons actions was to get her hair done.

I would thank her for her sacrifice, her son died in honor.

Greater love has no one than this,
that one lay down his life for his friends

Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends
