I'm in Bundang, and make my way to Itaewon, Gagnam, and environs pretty easily. Please post if you know of any good hairdressers that do black women's hair. I've seen the African braid shops in the alleys of Itaewon but before I take that risk, I want a recommendation or two.

Thanks in advance, kids.

The hair shop in Haebangchon (Sophia) right next to Yongsan Fast Food has a lot of black gals from the base going there. I've been in for a magic straight perm and seen ladies get the whole treatment - extensions, braids, straightening. They seem to know what they're doing - and I've only seen women leave happy. (but then again I've not been there that many times) It seems expensive though - but while I was in and out of there in a few hours, it seemed to be a whole day thing for them.

Burger King alley might be better for more natural (braided) looks, and Sophia (haebangchon) better for chemical processes. That's my hunch.

I can't give a recommendation, but I am told that a lot of the African American girls from the base also go to the "Family Hair" salon I think it is called. It's at the Noksapyeong end of Itaewon at the bottom of the little hill where Marakesch Nights 1 is.

Can you give a head's up about the place that you finally go to. I haven't been to a hairdresser in Korea ever....Just do it all myself and it gets tiring after a while!

Been done actually. I got a really bad haircut while in Korea....so bad that I had to cut all my hair off.

The Korean hairdresser made me look like this....

I actually prefer it very short but I deal with enough nonsense without adding to the freak-show appeal that I have in Korea...

You heard wrong.
Hair salons in Korea do Korean people's hair just as badly as any other people's hair they lay their hands on. Open your eyes.

As a stereotypical angry black woman, I would love to meet you and discuss black hair care in person. Thanks for your two cents.

I apologize for my statement. It was ignorant and I was wrong to say it.

I gotta stop drinking and posting.

You know what? I believe in the power of apologies and I appreciate the gesture. Before it, I took your comment a little personally.
