Alfie, Spezza and Heatly will light it up this game. Ducks will start their migration starting NOW. |

Quack.
31-16 shots in favor of Ottawa.
Ok.. Lesson #1... this is called Defense...
Ottawa, the #2 ranked Offensive team in the league, and the #12 ranked Defensive team in the league averaged 31.2 shots on goal against the President's Trophy winning Sabres (#1 Offensive, #11 Defensive) and won the series in 5.
Against Anaheim, the 5th Defensive, and 7th Offensive, they're averaging just 18.
Oh, and Emery isn't playing that good... not that good at all. His team is blocking most of the shots, and Anaheim isn't pressuring him very much... 90% of the shots are hitting him in the chest, he hasn't really had to move... but he is playing better than I expected...
I do expect he'll start to crumble as the threat of defeat becomes greater. |

No need to hit the panic button, minor setback. Sens will re-group, take the next 2 in Ottawa, take game 5 in Anaheim and back to finish it off in Ottawa in game 6.
Keep the Spezza line down for one game, you're doing good, 2 games just an aberration. Ain't no way it's going to happen for 3.
Time to have a little roast duck for dinner in honor of how they are going to feel when they visit Ottawa.
Here's Jiggy after the next game except it's going to be a white flag.
Quack, quack little duckies, I'm afraid you have been lucky ducks long enough

Are you the Iraqi propaganda minister Four months left?
I stand my prediction of Anaheim in 5-6 games. Defence wins championships. |

Of the 30 home teams who have won the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final since the series became a best-of-seven affair in 1939, 29 have gone on to capture the Cup. The Sens will now call upon the ghosts of the 1971 Montreal Canadiens, who came back from the 0-2 deficit to win in seven games. |
Quote: |
Well, it's disappointing to not get a win down here, Senators defenseman Chris Phillips said. But we can't hang our heads. There's a lot of pride in this room and we're going home now. We've got two games at home to even out the series. |
Pride? What pride? You've never even been to the Stanley Cup Finals and you're currently in a 2-0 hole, having been severely outplayed for two games.
And Four Months... you're absolutely crazy if you think the Senators are going to win in 6. They might, MIGHT have a shot in hell at winning in 7, but it isn't looking like that's going to happen.
Quote: |
For the second straight game, the Anaheim Ducks reduced the highly touted Ottawa Senators to hockey rubble, scoring late in the third period to seal a 1-0 victory and heading to Ottawa with a 2-0 lead with Game 3 set for Saturday.
Somehow, in the wake of these two games, the space between these two teams seems much, much greater than the difference on the score sheet.
With all excuses about a long layoff and poor officiating stripped away in Game 2, the Senators were once again outmatched in every meaningful element of the game
Out hit, outworked, outchanced and outshot. They keep this up and it'll soon just be "out." |
Quote: |
"Overall, their 'D' and their checking line have been stars of the series to this point," Murray said. |

So, what's gone wrong with the big guns?
"If you've got the answer, let me know and I'll put it into play next game," Spezza said. "We've got to win two games at home now. We've put ourselves in a tough spot."
Historically, it's not just a tough spot, it's virtually hopeless. |
Basically... they don't have a clue what to do... might be useful to have some veteran leadership, huh?
Oh, and for the record, Detroit's offense would have absolutely destroyed Emery with 31 shots. It wouldn't have been a 1-0 game, and you could have definately counted on Hasek to shut out a 16 shot game.
All these quotes... they seem kind of familiar... almost... almost like things I've been saying for a few weeks. Maybe I could a job as a sports writer. |

Just had a chance to take a look at the highlights from game 2. Shut your hole Uranus, Hasuk and the Dead Things are long gone, go talk about your new job.
Be afraid Duckies, be very afraid. They scored late 3rd period goals in both games to win.
Watch what unfolds, Qwak, Qwak, Qwak. Come on up and see what happens in the North. You've had your wins. There isn't a true Sens fan who is worried. There's that one guy on the NHL playoffs thread who left awhile ago, but who needs him. Come on in little ducklings...do you want some candy??? |

Lookin' pretty bad for your team. The first step is denial. Morbid thought, but it's true. Learn to accept. It will hurt less. |

Can they do it? Doesn't look good for that prediction right now.
Sad thing for you is that modern day Ottawa will probably never win The Cup. People will lose interest and they'll eventually have to move cities. If there's a team that would be on the chopping block in Canada, it would have to be Ottawa. Good riddance, maybe. |
