Man, I just can't get a break...
I am walking around outside checking out what the kids are selling (today is market day), and boom! A girl from the high-school next door jumps out of a 2nd floor window. She was attempting to kill herself. When asked, no one knew why; they only alluded to 'family problems'. My heart goes out to that girl. Who knows what could have caused her to feel as though she had to try and take her own life.  |

A second floor window? As in American 'second' floor? (about 10-15 feet off the ground?).
Perhaps she failed her physics exam. |

That is really sad. She's alright, I'm guessing...
You would think that something like that repeated over and over again would be considered worthy of some real frank discussion but alas....it is not to be.
I bet they are just going to put grills over the windows to stop that from happening again..... |

right. exactly. the window was about 15 feet up. She snapped her neck and her left leg, but she still lived. I hope it was only a cry for help. |

I doubt it. A student fell out of the second floor window of the middle school I worked at last contract and the school continued to leave the windows wide open, even in winter.  |

Not to sound like a byatch or anything but....if she's not smart enough to figure out that jumping out of a 2nd story window probably ain't gonna kill ya, her reasons for being are questionable. In other words 1 less idiot in the gene pool. 
I'm sure it was a cry for help b/c again, if she's that dumb.... |

| Wow, it seems like a lot of Korean kids try to off themselves. I guess it's bound to happen now and again with the amount of pressure these kids are under. Also, I don't think the family unit in Korea is as great as the Koreans build it up to be. I'm sure it doesn't help when most husbands in this country believe infidelity is just a natural thing for a man to practice. |

| When I was a JET in Japan, one of my students was out on the second-floor window ledge cleaning the glass. Well, a slip he had, and down he went. Luckily, he only bruised his tail bone, broke his ankle, and crushed his pride. Other than that, he was fine. |

It also doesn't help that suicide isn't the social stigma that it is in the West. Here and Japan it's actually considered an honorable way to die. |

How many students saw it? What was the school's reaction to it? Will the students who saw it be given an explanation (or counseling)?

That's for the non christian crowd right? In Christianity don't you supposedly burn for all of eternity if you commit suicide? |

the girl's' school is seventh-day adventist and adventists don't believe in hell  . lucky her. |
