I was discussing deodorant usage with a Korean friend of mine, and she wanted to know:
"Can Westerners smell each other?" |

If I told you, your head would explode and we'd get very very off-topic.

"Did I get plastic surgery?" Why? Well because my eyes are big and I have long eyelashes....
"Can I get a tan?" But to be fair, I've been asked that by all kinds of people back home..
"Do you have a perm?" I have naturally curly hair in a fro...It's been over a year at the same school but the question comes up despite my many many many explanations...
"Do you know rap music?" My personal favorite bizarre question I was asked...It was by a 5th grader so I can see why he'd ask, I guess. It's not bizarre because I'm Black but more so because I'm from N.Y.C. where rap was pretty much born...But I'm sure a 5th grader wouldn't know that...
I'm sure there a ton more but I'm drawing a blank at the moment... |

A friend from the UK was asked if she liked kangaroo meat. When she asked why the student asked, she said because they only eat kangaroo meat in the UK because of mad cow disease. |

The funny questions American ask me is " Do you ever get mad ? "
It's usually come from American males, they seem to think Asian women never get mad ( unbelievable !!!!! ).
I always say "Of course we get mad, we are just like American women "
Then they say "really???" |

'What do you think of Korea?'
Jeez, I've had this one a few times this week. It takes an enormous amount of effort just to say, 'Yeah, not bad..not bad.'
I straight up told the better ones about my brush with psycho chops in the subway station. They didn't seem to be too perturbed or surprised though.... |

I'm large chested, and I usually get asked
"Why is your chest/bra/gigi so big?"
Like I really have an easy answer for my genetics! I think they maybe think I've had plastic surgery or something.
I usually don't wear makeup, I like to keep it simple. So the few times I have worn it, someone always says
"You look beautiful! What happened?"
"I got hit with a beauty stick." is my usual answer, but they don't get it.

From an elementary school student, who asked this in Korean: "It's May, 2007 in Korea. What's the date in America?" |

I had a student ask me: "Teacher, can you use chopsticks?"
I smartly replied "Can you use a fork?"
Being the sharp one that he was (no sarcasm), he instanly realized the absurdity of his question and the point of my counter and burst out laughing. |
