Today is school inspection day at my school and whatever government officials are supposed to come are more than an hour late. During second block they were supposed to tour around to every class. I was all dressed up, had all my ducks lined up in a row, and my students were really good for what's probably my lowest-level academic class. I was anticipating their arrival all lesson to find a class of perfectly behaved, attentive students and nothing happened. During thrid block an English and Maths teacher are putting on open classes. I went up and they're babysitting their classes waiting for the bigwigs to arrive. The VP and members of the school board are waiting outside the school to start bowing obsequiously to these assholes who are throwing the whole day's schedule off. Then the bigwigs will probably want to see the demo lessons the teachers have been standing around waiting to teach during fourth block.
I just can't see how people could think nothing of putting a whole school on hold for them, or perhaps that's all part of their master, ego-stroking plan. How they expect teachers to have any genuine respect for them when they act like that is beyond me. And no, this isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. |

To be honest, they don't care about you and nor should they. It's just a school. The visit is just a formality. It's easier for you to accomodate them than vice-versa. |
