My contract ends on August 30th. I won't be resigning at my school, but intend to move to another school. I have a question about the air ticket.

My contract states the following:

"If Employee completes the Term of Employment without the intention to renewand leaves Korea within 10 days from the expiration date, Employer shall pay for Employee's one way return flight."

I don't inted to leave the country. I'll be taking another job. So, will they deposit the money into my account (because it doesn't state that in my contract). And how will they determine the amount to deposit.

I've been screwed around a lot by employers in Korea, so any help in clarifying this matter would be appreciated.

Thank you

Its basically up to your school. GEPIK doesn't really have anything to do with the airfare. It'll be your school buying the ticket, and/or your school that finds the price of a ticket, and/or your school that is going to handle all the paperwork/money.

This is a question you need to ask your school. If you are renewing at another school and you don't plan on leaving the country then I don't think you get the airfare.

Here's my understanding.

Year 1 - Public school. Re-signs at another school.
Year 2 - Public school. Ends contract, school provides airfare back home.

From what I gather from your post, you want:

Year 1 - Public School. Re-signs at another school, wants airfare ticket fare deposited to account.
Year 2 - Public school. Ends contract, school provides airfare back home.

Sounds like you are trying to "eat your cake and have it too".

Do you not need to cancel your visa and leave then?

If you're re-signing with another school in the GEPIK program then I think you should receive money in lieu of a plane ticket. Once you finish the second year of the contract then your school should be able to pay for a one way ticket to a location of your choice.

Do you get to keep the same visa and not have to do a visa run then?

You get a ticket or 75% of the ticket whether you are re-signing or not.
