the G8 has proposed to completely ban bikes from the entire first world. Lets show them that we won't let them keep the bikermen down! |

Voting would probably accomplish more than riding once around the park. |

Lycra shorts are reducing the sperm count of males and therefore causing a decline in the population of the G8 countries. |

I cannot imagine that there are really people getting ready for this. Right now they are polishing their bikes, checking the air in their tires, tightening the screws in the banana seats, and tomorrow THEY RIDE!
Now........if it was a ride that included ALL THE BEER YOU CAN DRINK ...OR even some kind of WET TSHIRT CONTEST afterwards.... I would consider going, but it aint got nothing like that. |

Figuring ways to help?
As Bill used to say, 'Go back to sleep America, go back to sleep.' |

If you actually felt strongly enough about the issue, wouldn't you travel to Germany and protest there (prefer violently )? Thousands are.
Otherwise it's an excercise in self-indulgence, Doing nothing for "solidarity" and effecting no actual improvements.
All events such as this do is allow those who don't do meaningful, important things to imagine they are doing their bit. It's like the secular version of penance.

Wouldn't joining a protest be breaking an E-2 visa? I disagree with this visa stipulation, but it's there (isn't it?). |
