As in "tomorrow I will gonna go to the zoo" etc.
Anyone else had their students use this phrase? Strikes me as very strange since its not at all the sort of mistake that people usually make and these are students who don't use any slang in their writing but over and over again I get gonna, always with a will stuck on it.
Anyone else have this? |

Getting "I am going to......" confused with " I will go to......"
so, I will going to.." is the resulting phrase.
Maybe someone has a more educated answer! |

use 'will' for intention (I will win the race)
use 'going to' for certain (It's going to rain)
some K dudes use 'gonna' coz they think it's trendy & sounds cool (mostly thanks to email/Hollywood movies/pop tunes)
So, some Koreans get a tad confused. It sounds put on & unnatural when you hear a young Korean boy say the contraction 'gonna'!
Well, it does to me... |
