In Korea, marriage is a civil affair involving a trip to the Ward office to get a document stamped.

If the ward offices are closed on the weekend, how can one actually have a legal wedding date that falls on a weekend?

I'm not talking about a "ceremony," I'm talking about the "legal date of marriage."

Any ideas on how one can get the official date of marriage on a day that's a weekend?

OK, so the ANNIVERSARY next year will be a Saturday, but the wedding DATE doesn't change.

Let me rephrase the question. If you want a specific date and the date is a Saturday. How can you legally get married ON THAT DATE in Korea?

Guess you have the ceremony on sat and go file it at the proper office on Monday...Asians aren't sticklers on this sort of thing...once you have the ceremony, you're married.

Have you actually seen a marriage register that says the date is a Saturday? I got married on June 26th, but it was not registered on my wife's family registry until July, 4th. So, that could explain the descepency. Just a thought.

I suppose getting married makes more sense on a Friday.

Except for the fact that the date desired is on a Saturday.

I was trying to make a joke. Sigh.

Can't you just lie? Look, register the damn thing on a Friday, have the big public ceremony on the 7th or just tell people that's your date. Who's going to care? If you two want to make it 070707 make it 070707.
