With the prepay system at 40.ooo won month you will still pay for the phone after just a few months.
Come to our store as above. Average LG plan costs approx. 23.ooo won month.

True. About a month and a half ago, my old cellphone took a dump. So, I went and got a brand new LG phone for 80,000 (REALLY NICE PHONE) and a contract by myself. I pay 34,000 a month and get 300 minutes and 10 won every 10 seconds and get up to 100 text calls free a month. They do deduct it from your bank account. I was cool with it. I take everythign out of the account anyways...well...except for 50,000 a month for the phone.

The only calls that are made from my cell phone are to calling cards out of Korea. Getting a contract would just mean that I was paying for something I don't need.

10,000 Won lasts a month sometimes doesn't run out.

See I was paying 34,000/month and my co-worker took a look and laughed. I guess a typical bill for a Koren is 16,000. I had her call LG and got it changed. I went a whole year paying twice as much as I could have been.

I checked out a couple shops today. Of the clerks that bothered to talk to me none offered me a free phone although they did say that it was possible to do it. I seem to remember trying this last time but they told me I had to have had my ARC for a certain period of time prior... is it 3 months?

Is there a certain time of the month/day/week that works best to visit for the free phone?

Interesting that you put the use of a phone as an indicator of having friends or not.

While you are correct. Even whilst living in Thailand I with a handful of regular friends I still never used a 300B calling card every month unless the missus was away somewhere.

I don't really see the point in meaningless conversations on the phone.

Like so many things, I think that is just a case of hit and miss...
