Has anyone been to Kosney's in Myeongdong lately? They sell exorcism crucifixes. I noticed these plain wooden crosses in boxes and I thought it was just for decoration, but on closer inspection, it appears to be real exorcism crucifixes. Does South Korea have a problem with evil spirits? So much so that they need to stock exorcism supplies at a snazzy home furnishings store? It even had James 4:7 on the box: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

That'd be a great teaching tool. I should get it and it break out on the kid in the back who won't be quiet while I'm talking.

I've bought a few things from Kosney. A passport coverbook that holds your passport and tickets, a namecard book for my business cards and subway pass and a few Thank you cards.

Also bought my Korean teacher a necklace and matching earrings for teachers day from that place. She has yet to wear them though...kinda pisses me off that I spent 50K won on her and she hasn't even worn them. Class is finished on June 15th and if she doesn't wear them at least once Im going to say something to her. In a nice way of course. Smile

Could you please tell me how to get there? I need a weird gift for my best friend, and that's something he'd really get a kick out of. Excuse me if it's a stupid question, but I'm not at all familiar with Seoul.

Are you familiar with the subway system?

http://english.tour2korea.com/03Sightseeing/TravelSpot/travelspot_read.asp?oid=3386&kosm=

"- Directions: Take Subway Line No.2 to Euljiro Station and go out of Exit No.6, walk about 100m, and it is located at the entrance of Myeongdong."

You can also get to Myeongdong from line 1 & 4; get off at the Seoul Station or Myeongdong stops, respectively. Look for the big building that says Avajar; Kosney is on the first floor, you can't miss it once you get into that area. If you're not familiar with Seoul, then I'm going to assume that you're not familiar with really congested areas and this area is pretty tightly packed. There's lots of tourist info kiosks in that area and maps everywhere.

It's just a wooden cross, so if you get there and you don't think it's a good enough gag gift, you can walk a few more blocks to the Lotte Department Store and pick up a funny Monte Blanc pen or Longines watch instead. I suppose I could take either off his hands if he doesn't find it funny.
