I have a 1993 (based on serial number) Martin D-35 that has a cracked back board, thanks to one episode of my uncle's psychotic ex-wife.

I'm wondering two things:

1. Does anyone know specifically where I might try and get this fixed? I don't mean general areas--it's a Martin. I'm not going to hand it to any shmuck on 'music street'. Since there are no authorized Martin service centers anywhere in Asia, I'm a bit hesitant at this point.

2. Pre- or post- operation, is anyone interested? I already have my guitar here, and the estimate for repairs back home was US$800 (from both service centers in my city).

I was given this guitar as a gift, and originally I just planned on leaving it at home in America and getting it fixed eventually. But then I played it a few times and fell completely in love with it, so I had to make every effort to get it over here and get it fixed when I can. It just sounds gorgeous, and it's more playable than anything I've ever set my hands on. Now I'm here, and I've decided to study Korean before I start working again, so I really can't logically have both guitars here, and sure as hell can't afford to fix it until I start working again.

Can you send me a photo(s) of the damage? I have a friend back home ~ in Canada ~ who is a luthier. If it's playable I'd be interested in buying it, so long as your asking price isn't nuts. I'd keep it and take it back when I return and get it fixed.

If you decide to keep it I can refer you to two west coast luthiers (sp?) but again that's in Canada, and may be beyond what/where/how much you want to go with it.
