|
|
Folks:
I am trying to find 3 or more foreigners who want to learn Korean to sign up for a course at the Seoul Korean Language Academy, 4f Jichoun Bld., 818-1, Yoksam-dong, Kangnam-gu, Seoul, 135-80
Tel: 02 563 3226
e-mail: [email protected]
www.seoul-kla.com/
The course I wish to sign up for is on Saturdays from 2-5pm, and the cost is 100.000 won per month. There is also a morning course, but that is impossible for me, because I will be travelling from Anjung eup, near Pyeongtaek city, some 2 hours away from the school.
I phoned the school today and was told that they need at least 3 people to sign up for the course.
If anyone is interested please either contact the school, and please also send me a pm to let me know of your intentions so that I can register and let the school know that other foreigners wish to sign up.
I have been told that the program is one of the best in Korea and very effective to gain Korean language and writing knowledge.
Thanks for any help, and please let me know.

The price is good but the time isn't.
What level are you? |

Thanks for the reply.
Having just arrived in Korea - April 1, 2007 - I am beginner level.
If you are interested, please let me know.
If anyone knows of any other courses closer to Pyeongtaek, please let me know.
But as there is nothing in Pyeongtaek at this time, I am ready to sign for a course in Seoul, sometime in June....provided that others sign up (at least 3 people).

Important question. A lot of us have already learned the Korean alphabet, for instance, so maybe we'd prefer avoiding the month's fees required to learn it again ... |

I actually went there for a while and at the time I was at the intermediate level. It's not bad and was actually quite fun (I was the only white boy in the class, others were from Japan and Singapore). We generally went out for a quick drink with the teacher afterwards and got another half hour or hour of practice. Due to your location I can understand you might not want to travel frequently, but once a week is not the best way to go. I would recommend finding a tutor that you can meet with a few times a week. When I attended it was three times a week for two hours. Also, one of the best programs anywhere is Sogang Uni. There is an online component which can be accessed from anywhere. If nothing else, it's a great supplement.

The Univ. of Hawaii has another great online resource with many levels:

When you get to the intermediate level, you can't beat the Berkeley online course. This stuff is free!

If you are motivated, there is never a need to pay or attend a class, but I suppose it's not for everyone. I generally taught myself and then practiced with real people in everyday life. |

I also found KLA very good. I was post-intermediate. |

I only attend a class once a week for 90 minutes. I find it highly beneficial. Admittedly I was already at an intermediate level though. |

Beginners and Intermediate and those wierd Japs alike. Love it when the teachers flirt with their lips and bums. mmmm yummy yummy. Better than the Yonsei dogs. |

I'm Bart Simpson, and who the hell are you?
I'm the definition of a lifer, well-known as such around here, dude, and you can go to work ridiculing that also, but you've just outed yourself as clueless about anything else you might say. Said many times here and elsewhere I'm not stepping foot in America until Bush is gone and something better takes his place - anything WOULD be, of course ... hell, I even avoid the American Embassy like it was filled with plague. Place looks and feels like a prison, feel sorry for the poor suckers who work there.
Love my country, by the way, and that's why I'm here and not there. Voting with my feet.
So ... who the eff are YOU?
(Sorry for distracting the thread ... sometimes there's a rabid dog around that neeeds to be put down.) |
