| When I was a kid, my friend's family spoke mainly English at home, but trained their dogs in Welsh. I don't have a dog, but I am trying to teach my budgies how to speak English. I am banging away with 'good day mate', a wolf whistle and 'cheeky monkey', but all I am getting back is tweet-tweet this and tweet-tweet that. It is so frustrating, I am actually having better luck with my freshman students who can mimic me by saying 'pencils DOWN!' with uncanny accuracy. |
