Suddenly, the drawer on my DVD won't open. When I push the open button, either on the DVD player or on the remote control, the display says, "LOCKED" and I can't open it at all.

I bought a couple DVD's in Canada. Does the DVD player have some "auto locking mechanism" to punish evil people who use DVD's from other regions or is something in the DVD player broken?

Just wondering ....

That's weird, I think the same thing happened to mine. The first night I moved into my place, some new K-coworkers came over and I think one of them tried to put one of my (European) DVDs into the player. Ever since, I can't open the drawer and it says "protect" on the screen.

Luckily, my landlady's getting me a new one this month... or so she says. Razz

the tray won't open? I'd say that the computer case is some how obstructing the ability of the tray to come out. Have you recently taken the face plate off?

Take the face plate of the computer case off, then, see if the drive will open. If it does then it is definitely the case. If it doesn't and the drive has power going to it, then one of the gears in the drive are faulty. You'll have to get a new DVD drive.
