Hi guys, i have what i hope is a simple question i just wanted answered if possible.
So, i resigned from my current contract with 30 days notice, the director has agreed i can leave and i have agreed to pay the million won to find a new teacher which is stipulated in my contract. i,e everything is on good terms. My last day will either be friday the 15th june or the following monday. I just wanted to know is there anything i have to do for when i leave the country. I am planning to go to usa but i want to come back to korea sometime in the future, can i just cancel my visa with a release letter at the airport or do i have to do that at immigration with my boss. I'm in Gangwon do. Any advice appreciated. |

(1) It sounds like you should probably submit a letter of resignation to your boss. Get the letter of resignation signed no later than Friday. You need something in writing whereas verbal agreements are not enforceable in this country. Once you get the letter of resignation signed, see if your boss will come to immigration with you. Sometimes immigration requires that as it depends on the office.
(2) If he doesn't want to, go to immigration (BRING YOUR ARC, CONTRACT, AND DON'T FORGET THE PASSPORT!)
(1) Give them the letter of resignation
Tell them exactly:
(2) I followed my contract and gave 30 days notice in writing before I resigned. (Show the contract clause)
(3) My boss refuses to come with me to immigration to cancel my E-2 Visa.
(4) His phone number is ***********.
They will give him a phone call and ask him, "What's up padre?
Show up when their doors open up FIRST thing in the morning. They have a SHORT FUSE when dealing with foreigners later on in the day.
