Doesn anyone know if the EPIK contracts will stay the same come July 1, or will they change? Will NIIED change everything or will they just implement what is already there? |

Why July?
Most (but not all) Epik contracts are 1st September - 31st August. |

The contract can start any time of the year. I'm not sure what changes will
be made nor do I know when exactly the changes will take place. If get
anything that isn't off the record I'll post it here. |

July 1 is when EPIK gets taken over by the NIIED .... My contract is up in August but they want me to resign now.. so I am kind of holding out to see if there will be any changes before i do... |

I assume you are on last year's standard EPIK contract. Get ahold of the new SMOE contract and tell them to match it or you will be heading to the big city.
(Higher salary brackets, 21 WORKING days annual holiday, 2 weeks extra PAID holiday for re-up, etc). |

That one is an EPIK contract and my point was that the NEW SMOE contracts offer significantly better terms and benefits. The OP should ask his employer to MATCH it instead of re-signing on the old EPIK terms.
The schools have the power and budget to match the offer. |

Could you post a link to the new SMOE contract?
Thanks. |

People really need to work together to affect change. It's amazing how individualistic even people with several Korean years' experience have. If every person would stand up and say "I'm going with SMOE for their 21 days" it would get EPIK changed real fast. Same with salary scale.
I personally tell every recruiter that tries to say how great a hagwon is: "Sorry, I won't work for 10 days vacation."
I don't want a hagwon job, but if I'm put in a position to say "No," I'll at least say something that might help our teaching conditions later on. Many Public Schools that are hiring privately are try to offer Hagwon-like conditions (10 days vacation/2.0 pay/30 classes). I make it a point to apply to THOSE, and then turn them down with a standardized letter I've drawn up detailing the above. |

Nicely done. It's just a shame that 99% of native English speakers don't act in the same way as us. |
