|
|
I am presently living in Japan but considering a move to Korea in the future. If my Japanese girlfriend wanted to accompany me, what are chances of her finding decent employment (in any capacity) in Seoul or elsewhere in Korea. She has an MA in TESOL and speaks excellent English. She has 6 years experience teaching English at a public junior high school in Japan and presently works for a well-known international company in Tokyo.
Any suggestions? Any ideas from those of you that know Korea well from this vantage-point? What types of jobs might be possible for her? Are they difficult to come by?
Thanks,
Japanguy |

She could teach Japanese, particularly if she applied for a government job which pays quite well. I've worked with a few Japanese nationals in the past who do that. |

There are two Japanese teachers at my school - their classes seem popular enough, especially with high school students and adults. She should definitely explore this option. |

I've a friend who dated a Japanese girl who was teaching (of all things) Japanese at a university here in Seoul. Can't say which. It would probably be deleted by the mods for being a job advertisement... |

From what I've heard people teaching Japanese get paid less for more hours than English teachers. Would be hard for her to teach english legally though, (although a school could hire her to teach japanese and then have her teach english) but with an asian face it might be easier for her to do privates... |
