Should Korean Koreans be given accounts at Dave's?
Yes, I don't mind hearing the locals react to our posts here

Gyopo teachers of course are welcome!! and have always provided an interesting perspective on the experience of teachers. American soldiers have also informed on how other foreigners experience things here.

But why are there now Korean Koreans, born and raised here and in no way a teacher, on the boards?

It's getting quickly annoying to hear Koreans posting digs and sarcasm toward posts here at Dave's. This is our refuge!

What do you think?

I think anyone should, in principle, be allowed to post here as long as they follow the rules.

it doesn't bother me in the least. there are a lot of topics which could really use a korean point of view in the discussion.
if they're willing to write in english, why not have them on board? they'd certainly help out with the threads involving questions about korean language and culture and whatnot.
and then there are the threads that say 'why do all koreans....?' it would be nice to see some replies along the lines of 'as a korean, i think you're full of crap.'
you've already made allowances for american soldiers who aren't teachers to post on this esl cafe. sure, they've got a certain point of view of a foreigner living in korea. but why allow them to stay but not actual koreans? i'm sure a lot of them who would post here must have some experience with foreigners.
i can't really think of any cons. you mentioned digs and sarcasm. i'll admit that i haven't spent a whole lot of time on dave's in the past few months, but i've spent a bit of time here, and i don't know what you're talking about.
anyway, my vote is yes.

I'm not a huge visitor or contributor to the board or anything, but when I AM here, I usually notice that a Korean Korean, who I'm pretty sure is not a teacher (but I could be wrong), is one of the most valuable posters on here. Much needed balance and perspective sometimes, to a number of people that could often use some (including myself).

(that would be doggyji, if anyone didn't know already)

It depends. If someone is contributing positively, then I'd say let them stay. If someone is just here to criticize or make trouble, then I'd say ban them.

Free speech. And there is no way to know if someone is a teacher, Westerner or Korean.

The logic of non-teachers posting on this site is questionable. Sacrosant? No. But, you don't find many Japanese circus clowns posting on the Naver site either.

And, just because someone has a foot fetish, does not make them a pedal pusher. Nor does a love of kneesocks indicate that one is a troll. Perhaps I was naive when I chose my moniker, but now that I know what a "sock" is I refuse to change my name to satisfy the naysayers.

The middle class is boorish and self-absorbed at the best of times. Perhaps allowing a few into one's home is occasionally amusing, but in the end their jealousy will interfere with any modicum of friendship.

Growing up with watered-down ketchup is nothing to brag about. In other words, if you get your kicks out of hanging out on a teachers' web site, then go for it!

Not!

All the more reason to let them post.

Korean sites make it difficult for foreigners to join (not that I've tried); in the West any idiot can join. Korea makes it difficult for foreigners to have an international ATM card; in the West, anyone can have such a card and you can have a nice overdraft and credit card no problem - we'll throw money at them. How about some nice state benefits too while you chill for a bit and look for a job?

This 'can do' attitude as opposed to red tape is what makes the West great.

I sense a "give them a taste of their own medicine" in the NO votes, but that goes against the spirit of the English-speaking world. We won't civilize the barbarians by behaving just like them.....

Do we let "foreigners" who are non teachers post here?

Yup.

If someone is coming here for contructive conversation, I welcome them no matter the nationality.

Geez, who are the 9 morons (so far) who voted NO? Anyone should be allowed to post on here, no matter who they are, as long as the follow the rules.
