No I'm not trolling, I just disagree with your interpretation of freedom although I was a bit too drunk in that last post
I don't believe that any of the 'capitalist democracies' are free countries at all, their wealth has always been based on the exploitation of the poor imo. One of the main reasons countries like America, England and France are so rich is because they sell weapons to some very shady and undemocratic regimes in poor countries.
And despite them having so much money, if you are poor in one of these countries, then I would argue that you are disenfranchised, getting to vote every four years doesn't make you free, having the opportunity to compete for any job and not being discriminated in any way against because of your race or class are what I would call freedom, and this just doesn't exist in any of the 'democracies' I know of
If we use America as your example of a country which encourages people to build stuff etc, how do you explain what happened in the hurricane Katrina disaster where the International Red Cross had to step in because the state had no means to help them? |
