I recently made a presentation titled, "The best photos of all time". I'm teaching a multi media class of teachers and wanted to stimulate their imaginations.
I thought I'd share it here, seeing I put so much work into it and they are just very important and thought provoking images. Our world is moving from the word to the image and I guess I am moving along with it......

Do you have an image / photo to add as being "The Best Photo of All Time" - best being defined as "significant" to the history of that moment?

Great set - something from your educational site that actually works on my and presumably my school's computers. A bit macabre but nothing Koreans couldn't stomach ('bury' should be 'burying' in the Che photo, btw). |

Thanks, I'm going to add the Nyguen photo. A classic and should be there. I know I'm probably missing about a dozen more. Maybe even the Kennedy one, or the Jack Ruby photo. I don't think the Kent State one cuts it - though it is significant.
Thanks for mentioning errors. I just usually finish it and post and then later, I'll make corrections as I notice them and repost an edited copy. Usually a few in everything. I have so many projects on the go that I just like to throw it up and then see later.
Also the same with the order. Point taken and I really didn't think of the order except for a few pics.
One I do think I am missing is probably the earliest know photograph. Anyone know what it is? Also, any photo of Hilary on Everest, does one exist?

Thanks for sharing that ddeubel. There certainly are some classic and provocative photos there.
Photography is indeed awesome, and images are an educational resource that are
"worth a thousand words" in the classroom.
That inspiring educational quotation presentation of yours is good too.
I showed it to some of my students today. Who is responsible for that nice music?
My most historically significant photo is a picture of my kid as a baby,
bathing in a basin of water, a duck and ducklings pull toy in the background. |

That was pretty cool! I agree with maybe rearranging it a tad, like putting the space photos in the middle.
Also, I think you missed the super famous "Afghan woman" photo:
You might check out other National Geographic covers, or other magazines like "Time" for really famous photos. |

cosmo,
Joe Satriani - "If I could fly". He has some really good instrumental stuff..... I now hope to find a perfect presentation for Ali Farke Toure but still haven't....
And you are right, "significant" is best personal and close.

I liked it very much, but there did appear to be a little bias towards events and people of particular importance to Americans. |

enjoyed your photos. perhaps your students would also enjoy this photo, taken in 1871 and considered to be the first photograph of Korea
a google image search should allow you to find a larger copy. |

IMO two powerful images of war which is up there with that young naked Vietnamese girl running...
A very young marine in Vietnam.
And probably an orphaned Korean girl with her little brother on her back. |
