I suspect Rudy Giuliani was to be the Bush heir but polls among faithful over his lack of a pro-life platform among other social issues has led them to find another puppet in upcoming Fred Thompson.

What do you think?

Now that Falwell is dead I think Romney just might pull it off. I still prefer McCain but the immigration question has killed him.

McCain is a whack job. I tend to lean toward Democrats, alhtough I am a registered independent. However, I think, if I had to vote today, I'd vote for Rudy.

I use to like Guiliani.. but his extremely pro-war stance.. and 'kill 'em all' policy scares me..

That kind of thinking is going to lose the election for the Republicans.. and the fact he doesn't stand for any of the social conservative issues that most in the party creme their pants over these days.. is even a bigger negative within his own party (the only blessing for the rest of us however).

The only part of Republicanism I like is fiscal conservatism.. but the War in Iraq and everything related to that entire debacle.. and Rudy's strong desire to upstage Bush with the on-the-ground-in-Baghdad ignoring all over aspects of the War on Terrorism and all of our domestic issues with that one focus in mind.. basically negates and goes in the extreme opposite direction of any fiscal conservatism.

But yeah, Bush would love him.. as he's the only candidate who would really validate and mess things up even more to look like Bush's administration was just a 'sign of the times' rather than an incredibly failed presidency.

Exactly. And Rudy's less than conservative social policies is taking a hit with the Moral Majority of pro-life Christian Protestants.

So... Fred Thompson is gonna join the race, speak the social conservatism needed to win the nomination and do the Bush Administration bidding (or at the very least siphon enough social conservative votes away from Romney and other contenders), sharing the vision for the future, regardless of what the actor says during campaigning.

Who makes a better puppet leader than an actor?... (Yes, Reagan was a puppet.)
