When they saw my video, the Korean press lashed out. Take a look at this scathing article from Yahoo Korea.
"... the Korean netizens swarmed with the voice which censures forecast broad way Stephen call hemp cloth."
And look at this actual quote from the Korean website Joins-dot-com:
"Some netizens were enraged that it is white supremacy."

I'm disappointed. The Colbert thing happened weeks ago. This is just now making people angrily froth at the mouth? |

Oh no..Colbert made fun the Korean Language, God's linguistic manna-gift from heaven. I fear for him. For all of us. Have mercy netizens.
Now if someone would just send Colbert Rain's Korea Spahkuring ad, this could really get good! |

I don't really get this.
"Some netizens were enraged that it is white supremacy."
Come again? Some netizens? Oh yeah, some netizens might have said aliens invaded South Korea in the Korean War. Some netizens might have said they don't like Kim Jong-il's ajumma hairdo. Some netizens might have said.. what not. It's quite funny how those reporters choose whatever so-called netizens might say that suits their taste. Actually, some Korean speakers here even checked the general consensus of these netizens was not even close to that negativity even though some Korean press was all about inaccuracy and sensationalism. It's a real shame. The press wanna play tricks on people. I'd say even some bandwagon-jumping people on this board who are only limited to English media and their own expat communities are sort of being fooled into believing this BS that Koreans made such a big deal out of it.

"Get in my Hyundai....".
"We'll eat some Kimchi...."
LOL! Oh man, that is the funniest thing I've seen in quite a while.

I've not actually read the netizens' views on the Colbert clip. Has anyone got a link so I can get a general idea of what they were saying? One of my Korean friends saw the Colbert clip and he wasn't particuarly offended by it. This Korean news report is far from inflammatory.
최근 비를 패러디해 논란을 일으켰던 미국의 인기 코미디언 스티븐 콜베르가 이와 관련, 비를 조롱하거나 백인우월주의의 발로가 아니라고 항변했다.
Recently, the popular US comedian Stephen Colbert who caused a surprise with his parody of Rain has insisted that the clip didn't amount to white supremacy and wasn't a ridicule of Rain.
마지막으로 스티븐 콜베르는 "난 그저 내 음악을 모든 사람들과 나누려는 아티스트일 뿐이다"고 강조하며 비를 조롱하거나 비하할 의도가 없었음을 강조했다.
Finally, Colbert emphasized, "I am just an artist who only wanted to share it with other people and there was no intention to ridicule or criticise Rain."
한편 비는 스티븐 콜베르의 패러디 뮤직비디오를 본 후 "재미있게 봤다. 감사하다"고 말한 바 있다.
On the other hand, Rain, after seeing Colbert's parody said "It was fun, Thank you."

To have Rain on a famous show as a rival, and looking at the music video you see references to kimchi and Hyundai as well (is actually beneficial). If you watch the show a bit more I think youll understand what its about |
.
Yeah......that is what pussees tell themselves.

Hmmm...Mr. Colbert jealous of some wanna be pop star? No, I think he is just making fun of him.

I think colbert and most viewers know that it is only some korean netizens who think this. It is all just part of the joke. Its not like hes going to break charabhter and say "well of course not all korean netizens think this". That wouldn't exactly be Colbert-esque. |

I refuse to believe Korea has never heard of satire. Maybe someone should sit this small group of easily-offended folks down and give them a talking to. Perhaps they could read Gullliver's Travels as an assignment. They've get to learn about satire AND English at the same time! |

Or maybe they should be rounded up and beaten with balloons filled with Kimchi until they're quite badly bruised. |
