I was wondering if there is any huge jewelry store like Sam Moon there. www.sammoon.com They have them all over major cities in Texas. It's run by Koreans and they have lot of imported sterling silver, cubic zirconia, hair pieces, purses, belts, hats, jewelries, and all kinda of accessories.
I am really looking forward to the jewelry and purse shopping. I thought about buying a purse before I go, but then I thought I'll probably have a better selection in Korea? Are the Itaewon markets best place to shop for jewelry and purses? Last time I bought a Korean purse from here, it was a newspaper print of Marilyn Monroe in many different poses. I got complimented all the time and people always asked where I got it. I just loved going into the Sam Moon chains because how everything is so girly and the cool artwork on most of the purses.
It seems to me that the girly girl fashion is big in Korea. I just love all floral, glittery, victorian, princess type stuff, and very feminine things. I also like the Sanrio looking notebooks, pencils and pencil cases they have there with the cute cartoon animals. When my dad was stationed in Korea, I collected really cute pencils, erasers, and pencil cases. And those mimi dolls or something. They have those japanamation faces with sparkling eyes. I liked how you can bend their legs and arms so easily.
Also, I'm 5'6'' and 125 lbs, so I am bringing all my clothes that I'll need. I wonder if there's any chance of me buying clothes that'd fit. If I can, I'd want to do maybe a little bit of really feminine looking Korean clothes shopping too. Just for a keepsake or something, but scared there will be nothing my size. I came to visit a long time ago, and I had a very hard time finding pants or skirts that'd fit. I'd always get stuck and it was a struggle to get out of them, because the waist and hip area were always so tiny. Do they sell size 7/8 low rise, hipster, faded, stretch, flare, bootcut type of jeans there? I guess I should bring at least 10 pair of jeans just to be safe. I remember the time when I finally found a pair of pants that fit me, I had to take it to the tailor and have a couple of inches cut off because it was too long.

I personally can't tell the difference. I hear it's the color of lights they give off that lets you know if it's a real diamond, and poking a hot needle to see if it goes through. But I love cz's. Plus, if I lose them, I won't be crying like I would if I'd lost a diamond. |

1. jewelry - yes, you can find them here but no, they don't have huge stores like in TX. There is a street next to Insadong (I think it's Jongno 3-ga?) that is devoted entirely to jewelry.
2. Itaewon really isn't that great a place for shopping.. Myung-dong is better.
3. You can get girly girl things in Korea - again in Myung-dong. Sanrio has a shop in Coex, as well as other toy stores.
4. 5'6 and 125lb - you are not really that different from the majority of Korean girls here. They may be a little thinner than you but you are not going to have problems finding clothes that fit, so don't worry about it. They do tend to make trousers longer so people can have the extra length taken off - that's industry standard for Korea.
Again, Myung-dong and Dongdaemun are your best bet... |

Seriously, the more you post the more beautiful you sound.
I can't tell the difference either and I'd rather spend that saved money on a vacation. |

You mean $12 dollar jewelry. To me they look the same. Yea, sometimes I wear those. Lot of people ask if my cz stuff are real. And I am like, "lol, no I would rather spend that kind of money on something else." I think only time it really matters if it's "real," is when it comes to engagement rings. As long as the stone is pretty, sparkles, and the silver is real silver, then it's all good. I'm not really into gold that much. Everything looks better silver. |

You can buy cute expensive, and real looking fake jewelry too. I had a gay friend that'd go shopping with me to Sam Moon in Dallas. Bought an expensive looking necklace and bracelet set. It was leopards or lizards, and at the neck, their faces crossed each other. It was made of tiny cz stones and emerald looking stones. It looked expensive to me.
When we went to gay clubs, he told everyone it was Judith Lieberman's something collection. That would've costed about $3000 if it really was, but important thing is that people bought his story. Lol, that was some good times. I'd be laughing in the corner as people were wowed and thinking he is that rich and all.
We even bought a bunch of cheap sunglasses that looked expensive with the cz's all over them. Lot of his friends were wearing the "real" Versace, new in season stuff. $300- 500 sunglasses. I think that's a crazy price to pay for a pair of shades. I'd rather buy an expensive camera or go travel with that money. And I guess, he felt that he needed to compete with them.
Everytime I went there, it felt like we're in some fashion show. Oh, what are you wearing? Who made this? Where did you get it? All these designer things. I think we're probably the only ones wearing fakes, but people thought they were real. |
