They're starting filming this month. Sean Connery has declined (see attached). Harrison Ford is, believe it or not, 64 years old!! The last film (Crusade) was 17 years ago. I think they should have left a great thing alone. Oh, the color of money!

Speilberg rarely makes an all-out stinker.
And with Cate Blanchett and John Hurt in it, it has to have some dramatic substance, because those two actors don't just take films for the money.
In fact, I see as many Blanchett's films as I can and have yet to be disappointed.
Now that is a woman! |

Yea, I agree. Smart, beautiful and talented as hell. Cate Blanchett's the whole package. |

| It really bummed me out that Connery will not be in the 4th Indy... Unless it's just a ploy... |

Yeah, he should at least have a cameo appearance, saying "Sorry son. I'm retired. I don't do that kind of thing any more." |

| I'm glad they're making Indy's love interest close to his age.. And I really hope they try to remember that he's not 30 anymore, because Indy rolling under a closing door would result in a broken hip these days. |

He's like 65 and she's thirtysomething.

| I enjoyed the first batch of Indiana Jones movies as a kid, but as I grew older, I realized that Spielberg's movies were a bit too formulaic. Sure, Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan were good enough movies, but those are the exception to the rule. As for Indiana Jones, that's one of those franchise movies. The new sequel could be crap and people will still go see it. Many people will go see it for nostalgia's sake, including me. That's what Spielberg is counting on (that and it will enable him to turn a quick buck on repackaged DVDs of the previous movies). |

| Indiana Jones was the ultimate adventure movie. This will be a movie that I'll allow myself to get lost in childhood wonderment at. |

| I remember reading that Harrison Ford used to do some of his own (less dangerous) stunt work on the earlier films. I'm guessing that at 65 years of age, his stunt guys will be doing everything now. |

So you're right. I thought she was in her early 40s.
Better than some 25 year old in the role. |

Yea, it's hard to believe that these films were huge in the 80's. It's still, hands down, my favorite series of films. It'll be interesting to see how they approach it, though. The original films had a young and vigorous Indy in these great adventures. Based on Harrison Ford's age, that's not entirely credible anymore. |

George Lucas is producing. That should set the first alarm bell ringing. All those great locations and sets from the first ones - computer generated. All the bugs/snakes/rats - computer generated.
Second alarm bell - SON of Indy will be playing a major roll. Why bother?
They should leave it alone. |
