I've talked to both Ok recruiting and Footprints so far and both seem legitimate. I looked at some info on this sight about good experiences with Footprints, which makes me want to lean towards them. I was wondering if anyone had heard of, or worked with Ok recruiting. They seem good, but they're in such a hurry to get me there that I can't help but be a little skeptical.

The job that OK wants me to take is in the Gyeonggi province. It's a public school, for about 2mil/month. The wages might be a little low, but I only have a BA without an ESL cert. Also fully furnished housing and a months paid vaca during the contract year. If anyone's heard of them or worked with them some info would be great, the info on the Korea FAQ forum is a little out dated.

Thanks

I'm going to be in that province. Mostly everyone there "only" has a BA and I don't think many people have ESL training.

Anyway, just because you don't have ESL means you should settle for 2.0 mil per month. I'm getting 2.2.

Oh well, not a huge difference.

Thanks, like you said, probably not a huge difference, but every little bit helps.

Any suggestions for other recruiters I should look into?

I wouldn't be able to help you there, I was hired directly by the school/guy at the school (we run in the same circles).

I would tap this resource though: http://www.eslcafe.com/jobs/korea/

If you have a good eye you can tell the good offers from the lousy ones. Once you establish contact with a school, you can sense whether or not its a good deal. Whatever you choose, recruiter or otherwise, there is always a bit of a gamble. Its the price to pay I suppose.

Talk to Joyce Kim at Korvia. She'll be able to find you a good job if you're legal to work in Korea.

In my experience Reliable and Recruiter should never be used in the same sentence.

It's not that they are all 'bad' people. You just have to be completely aware of their motivations. You aren't really their client, the school is. Some are worse than others, but basically if you approach it remembering that their business is getting signatures. And even if they are completely honest with you, what the school is willing to actually do for you may change from one day to the next. Trust but Verify.

Kind of what I figured. I just wanted to make sure the offers are similar to what other places are offering and not too good to be true, or a thousand less than every other place is offering. Seems like what they are presenting me with is about the same as every other place with a few minor differences.

You can work with a good recruiter, but don't trust them with everything. Check out things for yourself, too.
