Just curious. All those goofy pictures under your names. What's the point?

It's poster-recognition. It's easier to remember people if you mentally connect a specific image with them.

I've been looking into making one, but the sticky for avatars is a little dated. What's the easiest way to make one?

There is no point. It's just for fun. Wink

Mine really is an advertisement, promoting underage drinking!

I enjoy having an avatar, as such things grant me an identity (and not the converse). An avatar also helps me get laid, so you should try it.

I always believed that the reason behind an avatar was so that you could post a picture of yourself and make it a little more personal.

It should be evident that they reveal a bit about the user's character, personality, sense of humor or tastes, while providing a chuckle or two.

Now you've made me want to change mine just for the heck of it.

Your identity is yourself. Not some picture of something else.

By choosing and avatar you are expressing your taste, humor, attitude, approach, personality. It would not stand on its own as a representation of you, but in conjunction with your postings, it can be part of how people form impressions of you. So it can be a small part of your identity...

Can my next avatar be a picture of you, beast? That's who I really want to be.

While on the topic of representations, why not ask a question like 'Why do people choose dumbass account names?' Somehow, I doubt that you are truly a beast, so why would you choose that label? In essence, how does a moniker differ from an avatar?

What's the point of even having a screen name if you are your personality and nothing else?

What does beast really mean anyway?
