Hello everyone!
My girlfriend and I are looking for couples work in the Northeast part of Seoul or the Nowon-gu area as I understand it.
I hear from searching this forum that jobs are plentiful in that region of Seoul, but I cannot seam to find any job listings. We are currently working with a recruiter, but the majority of the positions are with SLP schools, however, we are not even interviewing as of what we have heard of SLP. With that said, does anyone have any advice as to where to look for jobs in that specific part of the city....since they are so plentiful apparently?
We are just looking for something closer to the mountains than to downtown Seoul?
thanks for all the help in advance.

Living here in Nowon, I'd say actually look for work in Bundang. You're closer to better facilities. Better students. I would say this part of Seoul is middle middle class. The kids lead uninteresting lives. They have lower levels of english. Their parents are not professionals and don't speak English. They have lower motivations for learning english. And basically any place you go in Korea is close to a mountain. |

That's a big generalization about Nowon Gu.
Most hagwons are located in the Eun-Hang Sa ga ri (Bank Intersection) area of Nowon. |

ok. Thank you. I guess it is good to ask others as the only information I get about that part of town is on here. That said, it is good to be corrected about the generalizations.
Thanks for the tips...Keep them coming

Bundang is definitely a nicer area as far as surroundings, the Tancheon stream (sort of a stream) and the ridges on either side are good for walking, biking and blading. The students aren't necessarily better though as you may find a few more privileged and perhaps somewhat spoiled students here. Nowon has students who, though they may lead "less interesting lives," can be better behaved and more curious. These are, of course, generalizations. Nowon is pretty close to a major hiking mountain and has a very direct subway line to the downtown areas. Bundang subway line is less direct but is serviced by fairly late running express buses. I am correct in assuming you will be first timers? More expensive in Bundang, cheaper in Nowon. More nightlife in Nowon, more options for foreign (expensive) goods in Bundang. Really, I think you can not go far wrong with either. But that is just my impression. You will really only come to know the answer by yourselves. Jobs? There is a still a shortage all over if what is bruited about is to be believed. The only area you may have difficulty with is around Hongdae and near Itaewon as these can popular or central locations for many. |

If one of you is kyopo there's a job opening at my hakwon.
Edit: I asked my boss about it. It's not so much being a kyopo as not looking Korean but being able to speak Korean. |

A. Dent and Hapki,
Thanks for all of the great pointers and the links. We are currently reviewing jobs in both parts of town, as based on what you say....you're right it sounds like you can't really go wrong with either and we are both newbies so that is wonderful.
Thanks guys...great info! |
