I have a Gateway (Model#: M305CRV) laptop for sale.

I have no idea how to gauge the value of the thing though so I'm gonna ask y'all for offers first. I just formatted the hard drive and installed iTunes...that's all that's on it now (and XP of course).

it's got
* 40G harddrive
* 250M memory (I don't know for certain but I'm almost positive that it's expandable)
* Celeron CPU (2.4 Ghz)
* Windows XP (I will look through out computer stuff to see if we have M.Office)
* DVD/CD writer
* 2 USB 2.0 (I think).

Comes with:
* External sound card (internal card suddenly hooped itself while we were on vacation)
* Good sized leather bag.
* Logitech video cam (bought last year for 80$)

We used this lil' number almost exclusively as a TV last year and it did the job damn fine.

Actually, offers in this thread are fine too.

thanks

I think 800 is a fair price, but I'm not in the market for a laptop right now.

You can trust the OP, he's a good guy that is well-known on the Tech Forum.

Is that $800 that you say is a fair price? I'm not trying to be offensive in any way. Just a little confused on what you say is a fair price.

HAHA!!!

Thanks guys. When k-rok posted that, I thought:
1) 800 for THIS??? No way!

2) Respected in the computer forum? Not talking about me.

I was just too embarrassed to pipe up "I don't understand what you're saying: Are you insulting me?"

Thanks for the clarification folks.

Is 300 reasonable though?

Tell me where to go for that deal on the HP. I was just there this weekend and don't recall seeing any HP's with those kind of specs for $800.

It was more like Intel Centrino 2.0, 80gb, 512mb, 128 ATI for around $750 asking. I'm not discounting what you say, but fill us in on who and where in Yongsan please.

I'd say those specs are much less than impressive. It seems to be in line with those $100 laptops they are giving to third world children. Not trying to be rude.
One laptop per child specs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/$100_laptop#Hardware

Actually, it specs out at much less

The $100 laptops cant be bought for $200 from non third world citizens.

On the other hand, someone just having gotten to Korea, without too much coin in their pockets and who wants quick access to a decent working computer without having to do all the research and shopping around.

I think you could fetch 300 for it IMHO.

Electroland, Son-in-plaza.

There are lots of good deals once you get away from the I'Park mall above the station.

Note to the OP. They buy used laptops there too. There are 3 or 4 used laptop shops in the son-in-plaza. On a private sale you should ask about 100k won more than they offer you.

I may just give it to my parents' relieft organization in Africa: I'm SURE they could use it.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not selling it yet though.

Unless you are absolutely in need of the money, I think that you should give it to the charity you mentioned. You may not get money for it but the positive Karma you accrue is worth alot more than the 300,000 you will get for the computer.

Also, with those specs I would say you will get 200-250,000 for it. Good luck with whatever you decided to do.

Once we get home, yeah, we're going to need that money bAaaaaad. But I may be tempted to just donate it and get the tax receipt (if I can): Good karma and a tax break.
