Actually, I've yet to have seen anything in his actions that are very far off from his words, and that puts him ahead of most of us. Do you have something solid to say that might be good to talk about?
The fact that he's willing to write a check dedicated to keep a site going that is all about looking for hiproprisy in what he's all about, that says something. Says more than what you are saying, in fact.
The guy has made enough money he likely never has to work again, no matter how much he likes to eat. He keeps working. He wants the world to be better. Gee, that's such a terrible thing, to use your money to improve stuff ...

haha, you haven't seen anything Bobster? Have you been looking?
Michael Moore's hypocrisy is quite well documented.
Here are just two random articles on this:
| Quote: |
He lives in a million-dollar apartment, and boasts of that as well. "I walk among them. I live on the island of Manhattan, a three-mile-wide strip of land that is luxury home and corporate suite to America's elite..... Those who run your life live in my neighborhood. I walk in the streets with them each day" (Michael Moore, Stupid White Men, p. 51). For vacations, he keeps another million-dollar beachfront house in Michigan.
"You would think that he's the ultimate common man. But he's money-obsessed," said one associate.
He sends his child to a private school -- no sense associating with the working class -- and has some trouble associating with them himself. The New York Post reported on a tantrum he threw in London: "Then, on his second-to-last night, [Michael Moore] raged against everyone connected with the Roundhouse and complained that he was being paid a measly $750 a night. 'He completely lost the plot,' a member of the stage crew told the London Evening Standard. 'He stormed around all day screaming at everyone, even the 5 pound-an-hour bar staff, telling them how we were all con men and useless. Then he went on stage and did it in public.' At his last appearance, staffers refused to work or even open the theater's doors." NY Post, Jan. 8, 2003.
He supplements his meager income with speaking tours. No more $750 gigs; on his 2004 pre-election tour he charged Utah Valley State College $40,000, Xavier $25,000, and University of New Mexico $35,000. Not bad for an hour or two's work.
Ah, the joys of capitalism....
One of his former associates summed him up: " You would think that he's the ultimate common man. But he's money-obsessed." |

Michael Moore: hypocrite?
Posted on 11/02/2005 6:13:46 PM PST by NYjarcola
From the New York Post's Page Six:
TRUTH SHOCK FOR LYIN' LIBERALS
PORCINE provocateur Michael Moore likes to portray himself as a working-class man of the people, but a new book exposes him as a "corporate criminal, environmental menace and racist union-buster."
In "Do As I Say, Not As I Do: Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy," Peter Schweizer reveals that Moore, who has been vociferous in his criticism of defense contractor Halliburton, has bought and sold hundreds of shares of Halliburton stock and that of other defense contractors through his private foundation.
Moore, who has claimed he doesn't own a "single share" of stock, has also invested heavily in HMOs and pharmaceutical giants, the targets of his next movie, "Sickos."
Moore also likes to rail against what he calls rampant racism in the United States and the fact that supposedly no one hires blacks for good jobs. Schweizer points out that "out of the 134 producers, editors, cinematographers, composers, and production coordinators Moore hired, only three were black." And not one African-American lives in the ritzy Michigan enclave where Moore has a $1 million mansion.
And while publicly championing unions, Moore has been quite anti-union in his own business dealings and had several clashes with the Writers Guild. |
Watch Fahrenhype 9/11 for info on Moore's scandalous ways. |

I've been avoiding this forum, but every now and again I come back and I remember why I don't like reading the crap that gets posted on here.
first, I think moore serves a vital role in society.
second, I think most of what he does is simplistic, often overly so
third, donating money and making it known is NOT hypocritical. If anyone donates and accepts a tax receipt, is their donation any less genuine?
Fourth, living wherever he wants doesn't make him a hypocrite
fifth, sending your kid to a private school is the only SAFE choice when A) you're a celebrity, B) you're a controversial figure. There's nothing hypocritical about it, and to say there is, without looking at the larger circumstances is either dishonest or moronic.
Sixth, about the only acceptable response to this story would be 'I think he did it for Publicity'. All this other crap that's getting posted shows how blind you are, and how illegitimate your criticism is. |

| If Michael Mooron doesn't have a problem with me calling him a moron, then I don't have a problem with him putting his crap out there for me to point out his hypocrisy. He is an American...not the type that I would choose to represent me in any way, shape or form but that's what makes America tick. I bet bet it would be fun to sit down and have a beer with him, but he's probably someone I could only take in limited doses. |

We have EVERY RIGHT to criticize Michael Moore after the slanderous movies and books that he releases. The information I posted about him is similar to what he releases about his opponents to label them as stupid white men. He criticizes the capitalist system but relishes in the benefits that he receives from it. Don't get me wrong, I am a very pro-capitalism and I think Moore can have million dollar mansions and a dozen cars, but I have a problem with people criticizing others for the luxuries that they enjoy themselves.
Michael Moore is an entertainer. He does not provide straight facts. We must agree on this point. To claim that he serves a vital role trivalizes those who actually provide a service to society. I urge you to watch Fahrenhype 9/11, see how many people that were used in Moore's "documentaries" that feel used and cheated by him. And please research the facts in his movies. These movies are not documentaries in the traditional sense. How does distorting information to serve an agenda provide any serve to society?
It's absurd that he isn't criticized more. |

out of curiosity, can you give an example of someone who does use 'straight facts', as you have called them?
Not starting a fight, just curious...

Actually, everything you said is also true about Bill O'Reilly. It's absurd that HE isn't criticized more. And, uh, you know, Moore DOES get criticized a lot, come to think ...
Thing is, though, Mike sometimes makes me laugh. That counts for something, in my book. Quite a bit, really. See, I like to laugh ...

| Michael Moore is to America what Borat(Sacha Cohen) is to Kazakhstan. So, if Sacha Cohen gave $100,000 to a poor Kazakh guy, the whole country should say "Gee, what a nice guy. We misjudged him." |

I put O'Reilly in the same category as Moore, someone with a clear agenda and political bias. Whenever I read Moore or O'Reilly I do my homework on their "facts" or at the very least consume contrary information(for example, I think everyone who saw Fahrenheit 9/11 should also watch Fahrenhype 9/11 to achieve some balance). I put Al Gore in this category too. He is someone who will exaggerate the facts to suit his agenda. Let's not kid ourselves here.
I'm not pushing for or expecting infallible facts or thoughts, but a purity of intentions. A documentary on A&E is more likely to provide credible information and considerably less bias than Michael Moore, Al Gore, Bill O'Reilly, or George Bush. People whose intentions are to arrive at a truth, rather than selectively chose facts to suit their opinions, would be the closest bearer of straight facts, in my opinion.
Research rather than consume. |

Rich people are cheap.
Donald Trump offered a HUGE $10,000 reward to the NYC subway hero about 6 months back. You know the guy who jumped onto the tracks to cover and rescue an epileptic who fell on the tracks?
Probably the publicity he (Donald) got was worth more than the $10,000 |

Hypocrisy means acting in ways different from what you speak. Talk the talk, better walk the walk. That's what I'm thinking.
Thing is, you have money honestly made? Spend it. Live where you want. Send your kids to schools where they will be protected from media, and hopefully grow up normal. There is nothing unAmerican about money. Quite the opposite. Most Americans I know like money. Whenever someone gives me some, I'm a little happier, unless I did something wrong to get it.
You're calling someone a bad guy because he has dollars. He didn't steal them. Excuse me, but I think your opinion on this is a little bit, um, bogus.
Like I said, he's an American. Is everything he says true? Maybe not. Does he make The Bobster laugh once in a while? Absolutely. I figure he can keep his money, and I won't complain.
Calling someone a hypocrite because he's successfully done what he planned to do, and hasn't hurt anyone? Come on. Geddahdahere ...

| Michael Moore has spent his life criticizing capitalism but it was precisely because of a capitalist system that he became so rich. Irony, hypocrisy, pick your term. If he makes you laugh, that's great (O'Reilly is my Michael Moore) |
