anyone ever rented a car in seoul? there was an ad in the korean times for a while advertising 39,000 w/day but they told me today they weren't in business any more

kumho wants 60,000 a day (which he was happy to tell me is about $80/day and i said i live here i'll pay in kwon - a quick check at www.xe.com gives the conversation of 60,000 w to be $63 - ! 0

this is really steep - for a weekend, whatever, he said for a week it'd still be 50,000/day - !!

anyone know of any better deals?

thanks!

It was about 50,000 won a couple of years ago at Hertz in Gangnam. It IS expensive to rent a car here, but cheaper than in Europe where I got reamed in France at 70 euros per day for an economy car last summer.

is mileage included here or do you have to pay extra if you go over a certain limit?

Yup. mileage is included here. Or at least it's been in all 3 times I've rented a car here. The first time the attendants were quite shocked that we managed to put 1600km on a car in 4 days. They asked: "where did you go?". I said "All over Korea", and it was no joke.

Some of the smaller companies don't offer insurance. Make sure you don't end up being liable for repairs on some clown's Lamborghini.
