|
|
So every time I call my family they complain that they can't hear me very well because of my microphone. I've had this problem with three separate cheapo headsets I've bought and I guess it's time to spend a bit more.
Anyone have any recommendations? |

I have a pair of cheap 9,000 won Pillar headphones with a mic at work, and a 10,000 won pair of Cosy headphones at home. They both work fine for all of my VOIP apps.
You might just need to fiddle around with the settings. I had initial problems b/c my line-in volume was low and I had a bad codec selected in the program.

| yeah that is good advice, those settings can be strange.. like skype will be too low, but everything else will be extremely loud, or vice-versa.. |

Thanks everyone!
I'll poke around in the settings first before making the trip to E-Mart. |

personally, i use a bluetooth headset and a bluetooth adapter for my skype needs. i wouldn't recommend it per se (the voice quality is decent but it's probably a much more expensive setup that just a headset) but if wireless is something you value (i do), then it's something you might want to consider. especially if you also have a bluetooh capable handphone (i do, but i must warn you, bluetooth is a serious drain on your batteries).
the only other piece of advice i would give you is that most of my friends with headsets say that a USB headset has significantly better sound quality than a traditional (line out + mic in jack) headset at similar price point. so you might want to consider that before buying one. |

Linkysys make a wireless handset.
They also make a Wifi handset which you can carry around like a phone and use at hotspots.
Rather nifty. |
