|
|
I just got offered a public school job, so I can finally bail early on my awful awful hagwon. They want a criminal background check. I want to obtain the federal one, not the state one. Is there a website where I can get a print out or a file or a hard copy mailing or something? I've never had to obtain my own background check before--- U.S. employers are able of course to look it up themselves. |

I believe the Fed Background check costs $10,000, maybe that's just for TS clearance.
You should only be required to do a criminal background check, contact your local PD.

I kept asking my recruiter specific questions.
They emailed me a form to sign saying that I promise not
to be a criminal and get the check later.
I finally got a
printout from my police department for $5. On the way home
I noticed that my fine for not painting my house was
listed as an arrest even though I was not arrested.
I've been here since October and as some of the other
posters told me in the thread below they have not
said anything more about it. I never got the health
check either.

I can't find it on their website now but atcjob.com
had you got to a website and pay with your credit card to download
and print your own background check.
The document was in HTML so it could be easily edited before
sending it to Korea.
I think there was even a sample you could edit if you
didn't want to pay the fee.
Maybe they changed the website because of my email
and postings here. |

I believe it does. When I had mine done, I sent my family a letter to hand deliver to the P.D. of my "home city" stating what I needed and why. They did and handed it to my family stating "so and so has no history of criminal record" or something to that effect. My family then had to send it to the my host country's embassy in the U.S. to have it notorized and sent to me. |
