I've seen Koreans avoid eating meat that's been overcooked.
Frankly, I like the smokey taste.
But they say that it causes cancer.
I had never heard that before. Is there any truth to that? |

| Ok SERIOUSLY, Google is your best friend. Dont ignore it..... I got the answer by typing in 3 words. took 5 seconds. Im not going to post the answer and I hope nobody else does either, because some people (YOU)need to use those skills the librarians taught us in elementary school: HOW TO FIND INFORMATION ON YOUR OWN. |

Why should Google be my best friend? Why not Yahoo, MSN or the very best search engine, Dogpile (which is a combination of search engines including Google)? And why shouldn't I ignore it? will I hurt Google's feelings? Jinju, you have to explain yourself better to us stupid people.
And who are you to be telling others what to do? Are you the famed Dave Spearling in disguise? If "yes", I thank you sir. if "no", why don't you be nice and make some friends? 'Cause based on the way you write, I'll bet you don't have any. |

| Yes, but a diet high in animal products of all kinds (and low in fruit and vegetables) is a much bigger risk factor. You can order "The China Study" by T. Colin Campbell through WTB; the author makes the point that the media tend to focus on relatively insignificant and sometimes questionable risks to our health like cell phones, nitrites, parabens in shampoo, etc., while neglecting the huge problems that definitely are killing mass numbers of people. It's a great read and more worthwhile than the top 10 links to pop up on Google. |

If burnt, and if eaten 3 times a day for 50 years, maybe.
Some koreans do believe it causes cancer: they are usually the same ones who believe that fans cause death. |

| It's the same as eating graphite, literally, but it sure does taste better. |

| Some research suggests that burnt or charred meat may increase cancer risk. Substances called heterocyclic amines are formed in foods which are cooked at high temperatures and blackened or charred. In animal studies, heterocyclic amines are carcinogenic (cancer causing). However, the evidence in human studies is not clear. |

| today, it'll cause cancer. Ten years from now, another study will show eating burnt meat will increases your night vision 20% and can act as an aphrodisiac. Ten years later, another study will show that yes indeed, it does cause cancer. Meanwhile, you'll be hit by a bus... |

Campbell's book addresses this point very well, IMO. |

Scientists today announced that saliva causes cancer. But only if swallowed in small amounts over a long period of time.

| But yeah, at the moment, it seems that burnt food contains carcinogens that can cause cancer. It's probably best to avoid burnt food whenever possible. |

I think you are ok if you eat something thats jsut got burnt edges or if its like blackened chicken or barbeque.
From what i've read, you run into problems when most of the food is charred to the point of looking like charcoal. |
