Cowon D2 :
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=82207&highlight=Cowon

The new firmware allows flash games and applications to be played on the D2 with moderate success. A lot of the software was designed for the iRiver Clix which uses an ingenious click based navigation, here are some of them compiled by a D2 user :

Compatibility:
[1] - Made for D2
[2] - Fully compatible
[3] - Not perfect, but quite playable/usable
[4] - Very hard to play/use on D2 ot major features missing
[5] - Nearly unplayable/unusable

My playability/quality rating:
[1] - Very Good
[2] - Good
[3] - Not bad
[4] - Not good
[5] - Catastrophy
[0] - Unrated

[+] - Special award

These rating will probably change drastically with the arrival of D2 games!

Controls:
[MOUSE] - Control with your fingers/stylus
[ARROWS] - Control with the emulated arrows

Games:

Apple / Ipod pricing is too high for my tastes but to each their own.

How pricey are we talking? 400,000 won?

I am way cheaper than that but I only use my mp3 to listen to music and not play videos and games or use as a PDA.

I got a basic 2 gig mp3 player (English menus and users manual) for 60k won.

Yeah..I got the 20gb color (4th gen?) maybe 2 years ago, and it kinda crapped out twice. Once I had to ship it back to Apple, but now it's acting up again. I like the ipod just because of the podcasts, radio stations, and small selection of games, but i would be mostly using it for music too. My boyfriend got the 60gb ipod video, and although he uses it for music as well, he says his is working great.

That's the only reason why I would want to upgrade to 5th gen ipod video. But maybe i should look into an mp3 player...

I got a 4gb ipod nano for 210k at ipark mall at yongsan, cheaper than costco if you can believe it, only problem i have is it can be a pain to turn off, if you press and hold the play/pause button it sometimes doesnt respond

video ones go 30gb for 260k, thought long and hard about it but even with the smaller size and less weight it wasnt worth it for me as I use mine primarily for music while travelling and working out

Hogwonguy,

You saw the video ipods at Yongsan for that price?

How much are they at costco?

Also a question about ipods in general for anyone: If I get a new one, will it sync with all my old songs, podcasts, pics, etc easily? Or will I have to put all that stuff on a cd, then add it to the new software on itunes?

IPark mall at yongsan station has them for that amount, same level as the exit from the subway station. also in the bus terminal there are a couple of apple stores

costco runs about 10k more and i didnt see an 80gb one. also costco
didnt seem give you a choice of colors

not sure about your last question as this was my first ipod.

btw does anybody have a periodic problem with turning it off? Sometimes its hard for me to turn it off.

It will synch just fine. You can add your music folder to itunes (file >>> add new folder) and it will import all of your tracks. Depending on what plyer software you have used before it may screw with the headers, but that is a rare occurence.

It will import MP3 files no problem. If you have any WMA files then it needs to convert them to MP3 or AAC format before it will synch them, but it does this automatically after you agree to the prompt.

I went to Ipark today and got the 30gb ipod video for $250. It came to a little over $300 with some accessories I got: an armband, skin, and wall charger. Overall, I am really happy with the prices and I am going back to get a camera soon.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
